Fall is here, hear the yell

Back to school, ring the bell

Brand new shoes, walking blues

Climb the fence, books and pens

I started teaching myself guitar in middle school, around the same time that I listened to indie playlists filled with Of Monsters and Men, First Aid Kit, and Jack Johnson. My middle school/ high school playlists hold a tender place in my heart because they remind me of a quirky girl who had a hard time finding her place in a world where she was different. I’m still the same. And I still feel a little lump in my throat when I hear We’re Going to be Friends.
