Go Boston & Go Cougs!

Boston went through the Draper temple for the first time today in preparation for his 2 years of missionary service in Goiania, Brazil! He is so cool and mature and I’m just so proud of him!

Then we celebrated the last day of August with the first BYU game with Sydney and Conor. We live in Provo. We had to!

lol this photobomb

So much blue! I am also obsessed with the Y which they lit as soon as it got dark. We hiked the Y in June to mark the start of our first Summer as a married couple. I think it would be fun to hike it one more time on the last official week of Summer to help commemorate the close of our first married Summer.

And then Noah cleaned the entire kitchen and did all of the laundry like the sweet, perfect, angel husband that he is. Meanwhile, I sat wrapped in a cozy blanket with a microwaved rice sock (if you know you know) and tried to recover from the world’s worst cramps while I wrote this blog post like the fragile, needy, but super in love wife that I am.

BEING

Big moves for my little esthetician business, Being! I’ve been offering a full brow bar and lash lifts/tints, but decided that I’m ready to invest in growth and expand my offerings. Over the past two weeks I’ve spent my time collecting studio inspiration, researching insurance and important tax and license documentation I will need, and most exciting, I invested in natural organic skincare for my back bar and wholesale. One of the most exciting packages I’ve ever received! The products are packaged beautifully, smell amazing, and the brand values of sustainability and nontoxic beauty really resonates with me. I’m now an excited Apoterra partner!
I also invested in a buccal massage course so I can begin offering facial massage and buccal massage and I’m eager to start learning! Like I said, big moves!

Sunrise Peaches

Wednesday mornings are for harvesting peaches! I spent the morning picking fuzzy red and yellow peaches while the sun came up over the mountains behind me. Dreamy. I gave the peaches a little cold bath in the kitchen sink with Koala Eco’s Natural Fruit and Vege Wash. I love every Koala Eco product I’ve tried and I love that they are completely natural and use ingredients like mandarin, eucalyptus, and rosemary essential oils from Australia. They smell good too!

Now I have fresh peaches soaking up the sun on a towel in my kitchen with a tupperware set aside for my sweet neighbor Phyllis who gifted me peaches from her tree earlier this summer. I also have a new friend from the UPS store who I know hates Wednesdays, but might not hate a peach delivery.

We will be kissing August goodbye and welcoming September with peach crisp, peaches and vanilla bean ice cream, peach pie, baked cinnamon and sugar peaches, peach jam, and crisp cold peaches right out of the fridge!

PSA this is not lavender! I did some research and figured my beautiful Blue Steel Russian Sage arrangement deserved to be named correctly.

Life Lately

I made this cinnamon pull apart bread with a cinnamon vanilla glaze for family dinner the other day and it was a hit! If anyone besides me read this blog, I would share the recipe haha.

This iPhone picture I took of the mountains up at Sundance. It looks like a vintage postcard!

New old dining room chairs we picked up from Wallsburg. They need some work but I am obsessed with them.

Our first peach! It might have been one of the best peaches I’ve ever had and I’m so proud of it.

Foraging

My newest hobby: foraging for my home decor. Yesterday I got up early, threw on a sweatshirt, and took the Vespa out for some fresh air. And then I came home with a big paper bag full of fresh lavender and arranged it as a centerpiece for my kitchen island. It’s making my heart explode seeing on my counter!

Lifting Lashes

Documenting my new temporary space for esthetics right here in my kitchen/ living room. We hung a new light fixture, some curtains, and I foraged some fresh lavender for this ceramic vessel from my wedding. It might not be ideal for facials, but it’s so perfect for lash lifts and brow laminations! So while I’m creating decor from driftwood and dried flowers, refurbishing a vintage sideboard, and curating the best natural skincare (more news on this coming soon!!!), the kitchen/ living room is my new studio!

Why is he so cute?

Sort of Back in Business

I’ve started taking a few lash lift and brow lamination clients here and there. Mainly family and friends. There are some big goals and dreams in the works here, but for now, I’m back in business in my living room… sort of.

Honorable Mentions

Proof that this place really is one of a kind. And that I have taken better photos in the past. Some honorable mentions past family reunions at Lava.

And to end on a high note: Me and London right before our sisters talent show act 2022

Tesla Crisis

On Sunday, we drove to Ogden for my cousin Peyton’s mission homecoming. We decided to take the Tesla and mapped out how many miles we would need to get there and how many miles it would take to get to a charger. Everything was fine until every charger north of Salt Lake was out of service and the Tesla eventually died in the Weber County Library parking lot next to a Tesla charger that wasn’t working.

No company would tow a Tesla and we were stranded in North Ogden. It was a high stress situation but to make a long story short, we decided to leave the Tesla overnight and wait for the library to open the next morning so we could pay to charge the car. London picked us up in my parent’s car and we drove home with them and slept over which was honestly really fun. Then we drove back to the library in Boston’s car first thing in the morning and spent a few hours reading in the library.

It was kind of a hassle and an experience we could have lived without, but in retrospect, I’m glad we got to sleep over with my family and I’m glad that Noah had to miss work so we could read together in the library.

The said Tesla.

Surviving the Storm

Boston has been wanting to float the Provo River before Summer ends and he leaves to Brazil on his mission #depressing so this last Saturday morning me, Noah, Boston, Hudson, London, and Kaydence bought tubes, piled into 2 cars, and headed up the canyon. We tried to leave early to beat a storm that was supposed to come at 3pm. It was freezing. Like toes and bums were numb and I wouldn’t have been phased if blocks of ice started bobbing up in the river. But it was fun and beautiful and going according to plan until the last 30 seconds as we were trying to get out of the river.

The storm came early and storm is probably an understatement. It was like a real live hurricane. You couldn’t even see 5 ft in front of you. Half of us hid in a pitch black men’s bathroom while Noah and Boston went to get the cars. It was chaotic and crazy but we survived!

We got in-n-out for lunch and jumped in the pool/ hot tub at Noah’s parents house to warm up. But there was lightning so that was short lived. We saunaed instead. Good times!

My lips are blue in every picture because thats how cold it was.

We went back for two of the lost tubes later in the day and they were still there! Lucky us

24 in 2024

I turned 24! Growing up, my birthday (August 15th) was often the first day of school. I love Summer and having an August birthday makes the close of Summer a little easier to handle. Although I have to admit, I’m actually really excited for Fall this year. I’m craving cozy. I want orange trees, apple and pumpkin treats, cooler weather, cozy sweaters, turning on the fireplace, and I’m even excited to work in my yard.

Anyway, Noah made me breakfast in bed on my birthday which was really sweet. My parents always did that for us growing up but I would usually take my downstairs so I could eat with everyone else. This year, Noah had to work the morning so I actually ate in my bed. It was kind of fun.

When Noah got home from work, he took me to lunch at Cubby’s and then surprised me with an impromptu movie trip to see It Ends With Us. I love Blake Lively in Age of Adeline, one of my favorite movies of all time, and so I really wanted to see this new movie. I actually really liked it and felt inspired by her crazy sense of style and her flower shop in the movie. There are also some pretty heavy topics about DV in the movie. I feel pretty lucky to feel so safe in my relationship with Noah. I can’t even imagine how sad and scary it would be to have to worry about the person you love hurting you.

After that, we made a return to Anthropolgie and walked around the store. Everything in Anthropologie is very eccentric so it felt appropriate considering the outfits in It Ends With Us.

We finished the night with presents and sourdough cinnamon rolls with brown butter frosting and hot baked peaches with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. It was so amazing its sending me spiraling just thinking about it!
