Memorial Day

We got up early on Memorial Day and hiked the Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge hike with my parents. This is one of my favorite hikes near my parents house and I grew up hiking it so it was fun to go back with Noah. And pretty! Good times.

My hair looks so short in this picture! Noah loved it and talks about me cutting my hair short all of the time. Not happening but nice try buddy.

Blooms

Sometimes I feel like a little annual flower who re-blooms in the Spring when I go on Vespa rides, go swimming, have fresh flowers on my counter, and wake up with the sun to teach Pilates.

My Dad

I love the part in THIS VIDEO where the girl says “It’s my dad!”
It makes me emotional. You can see her absolute adoration for her dad written all over her face.
I absolutely adore my dad too.

I was always really proud of my dad growing up. I wore being “Tony Rigby’s daughter” like a badge of honor. Everyone likes my dad. He is good at everything. Speaking, writing, art, he is athletic, witty, handsome, funny, and easy to spend time with.

My dad has always been the guy to call. If I need advice, I call my dad. If I need someone to listen, I call my dad. If I don’t know what to do about a car issue, home reno project, or tax filing problem, I call my dad.

My first time going through the temple was kind of rough on me. I was just a little overwhelmed. When I walked into the Celestial room, my dad was there. I was so relieved. Safe is where my dad is. He hugged me and said “I’ll be there to welcome you to heaven just like this.” Mostly I hope he wont have to and we can just walk in together.

Watching my dad give haircuts on my mom’s red barstools were a staple part of my childhood. Alexis usually cuts Noah’s hair but one time she wasn’t available and Noah needed his hair trimmed. My dad pulled out his clippers and cut Noah’s hair. It was full circle for me to watch my dad cut my husband’s hair after watching him do it one hundred times to himself, my brother, and my cousins growing up. I was 100% confident it would turn out great because I am 100% confident in my dad.

The vintage music and fall slideshow on the TV in the background reminds me of my dad too. He is big on nostalgia.

I told my dad that I cant wait for my kids to grow up knowing him. It’s because he will probably be their favorite person in the world.

Proof:

Happy birthday to the best in the world! In-formal barber! The guy to call!
My dad!!!

I Do Adore

This blog is really just turning into a Noah fan page.
But it’s his birthday so how could I not?

Not to make his birthday about me, but I honestly think I manifested him into my life far before I ever met him. I was a pretty quirky kid. I wore yellow tights to school, bought chickens with my life savings, and listened to a copious amount of Mindy Gledhill. I used to listen to the lyrics

“We’re as different as can be
I’ve noticed you’re remarkably relaxed
And I’m overly uptight
We balance out each other nicely

You wear sandals in the snow
In mid-July I still feel cold
We’re opposites in every way…”

“Everything you do I do adore”

And I would daydream about a silly boy who would balance me out and adore me.
And then I grew a little and got more serious and made new plans.
Well I’m grateful all of the time that Heaven remembered the daydream of a little girl because I met Noah and he is a silly boy who balances me out, makes me a better person, calms my anxiety, makes me laugh, and puts my needs before his own. Together we are building a life we love with big plans and no “Sunday-scaries.” He is way more than my opposite or the daydream of a 12 year old. He’s my person! The best friend I always wished I had. The love of my life!

Let’s go on trips, have kids, and grow old together.
Here’s to 26 babe!
