Romance

Thanks to my new Sony, life looks more romantic lately.

I have these Earth-stopping life-altering realizations like once a week that life is really magical but it’s also really short. Why do I ever waste time scrolling through AI generated celebrity gossip, parkour fails, and high school highlight reels?! Why do I dedicate any energy at all to wishing I had someone else’s life when I have my own wild and wonderful life? I tell Noah often that I want to live a life full of romance and spontaneity.

I want to wake up with the sun and try a new cafe for breakfast. To jump in the lake fully clothed, learn how to make pasta, drink out of hand spun ceramic, and write love letters. I don't ever want to miss a photo booth, a week living out of a backpack, or a New Year’s Eve kiss. I want to spend the night in sleeping bags in the back of Noah’s truck and try skiing again because it’s scary. I want a deck of cards in my purse for a spontaneous game, I want to dance when there is music, and I want to embroider over the hole in the pocket of my denim.

Life is too short to not buy the reflective mono lens sunglasses because they look dorky and will attract too much attention. You should dunk your head because swimming is better underwater. I’ve never really understood why people don't get their hair wet anyway. I love real food that nourishes my body but I will not be skipping pizza night. Ever. I’m not really a singer but in the car?
Celine Dion baby.

Early morning yoga makes life romantic. Late night take out makes life romantic.
Post work weekday surprises makes life romantic.

Long story short, I bought the dorky reflective mono lens sunglasses.
And we’re going to Europe!!!

And I Love Him!

Happy Valentine’s Day to my lover boy! 💌

The foundation of our relationship was built on Spotify shares. Our first texts are filled with Coldplay, The Killers, Dominic Fike, The Beatles, and Lana Del Rey. I worked late nights cataloging books at the college library, so Noah made me a “night shift” playlist (which we transferred to Spotify the second I realized he had been brainwashed into using Apple Music.)

We picked three songs that we felt were “our songs” for our wedding. We danced to You & Me by Penny and the Quarters because I really didn’t want a slow serious song since I already felt really awkward dancing in front of everyone as is. It was silly, unique, and frankly perfect in my opinion. We kissed under a shower of rose and peony petals during our send off to Il Mondo as a tribute to About Time, one of our favorite movies that we actually watched on our honeymoon!

But our song, OUR song, is See You in the Dark by Soko and Keegan DeWitt. Sometimes I wish we had it as our first dance song at our wedding, but then I remember that we slow danced to it in our kitchen the night of our honeymoon after eating leftover wedding pizza and cheesecake. It plays in the background of my honeymoon memories. It’s special to me and probably always will be.

I have listened to and loved Santo & Johnny for years. This year I discovered that my favorite Santo & Johnny song was actually originally by The Beatles and has words! So I’m dedicating it to us and our first Valentine’s Day together as a married couple.

And I Love Her by The Beatles

I give her all my love
That’s all I do
And if you saw my love
You’d love her too
I love her

She gives me everything
And tenderly
The kiss my lover brings
She brings to me
And I love her

A love like ours
Could never die
As long as I
Have you near me

Bright are the stars that shine
Dark is the sky
I know this love of mine
Will never die
And I love her

We’ve only (and already?!) been married for 9 months and the rumors are true: I love him more now than on our wedding day. And he loves me! I hope we’re always like this. That we always listen to records in our bedroom, that we grocery shop in our pajamas, that you make sure I’m not walking on the road side of the sidewalk, that we have our best conversations in the hot tub, and that I never stop beating you at Michigan Rummy.

I hope you always direct the AC to my face when I feel carsick, sing the same line for the millionth time before moving on to the next, that you take me for rides on the Vespa when I feel overwhelmed, and that you ask me to scratch your back right as I’m about to fall asleep and then fall asleep 1 second after I start.

I hope we always cook bacon in our underwear, that you kiss my forehead before you leave to your Sunday morning meetings, that we get snow cones every weekend in the summer, and plan trips that don’t make it off of the couch but then spontaneously they do.

I hope that you still try so hard not to laugh when I’m mad about something, that you take out the garbages and I do the dishes, that you grab my hand in public, and that you keep asking me if I’m ready to have kids every 5 minutes knowing full well that you would panic if I ever said yes. And then when we do have kids, I hope you still love me the way I will love you!

I got the idea to start dedicating a song to Noah every Valentine’s Day from Stephanie Nielson’s blog. I think it’s so sweet and cute!

Christmas in California

Throwback to our December trip to Disney!
It was colder than usual but hot chocolate, beanies, giant Christmas trees and fake snow makes Disney magical.. even in the cold.

The girls!

I’m Still Here

It’s been two months since I posted on my blog. I haven’t forgotten about it. I was just feeling overwhelmed. Christmas was busy and January is… well January. It’s so easy to feel motivated at the beginning of the year when you’re high on the holidays and the prospect of a fresh start is staring you in the face, but I think it’s hard to keep momentum because January is… well the worst.

I’m determined to enjoy winter and find a way to appreciate January, but this year it’s already over so moving on. Here is the last month in review:

Lots of sauna/ hot tub sessions to get us through. It’s actually one of my favorite things to do with Noah. We aren’t on our phones so I feel like we have our best conversations in the hot tub. And in the car.

As it turns out, Noah is actually extremely capable and can build just about anything. Including our hallway shower. It’s really impressive.

I went darker! Alexis toned my hair and it’s been such a fun change! @lexphunghair

The view from my kitchen window is unmatched.

I got a new camera and I am OBSESSED. It takes the best pictures/ video. Like look at the quality of this picture of me and Noah taking damage in the Draper Temple parking lot. I’m sorry but Utah winters are not for the weak.

I borrowed my mom’s shoes. I love these shoes. I think they are so feminine. And I want a pair.

From my dad’s Christmas Eve party! It was so fun! We all slept over!
